  • Dimensions: 7×5; 9×7; 10×10
  • Packed Size: 3ft
  • Peak Height: 9ft

The Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent comes in three different sizes; a 7×5 foot version that weighs 23.9 pounds, a 9×7 foot that weighs 26.6 pounds and a 10×10 foot that weighs 28.6 pounds. But let’s take a look at the tent’s most outstanding features:

  • 50+ UPF Rating – This tent’s fabric allows just 1/50th of the sun’s UV radiation to pass through it, which means your skin will receive up to 98% protection from those harmful UV rays. The canvas is also made of a double thick polyguard material that’s pretty durable in addition to being water resistant.
  • Lightweight Telescoping Poles – These poles ensure easy setup and increase the overall portability of the tent due to their light weight.
  • SwingWall Feature – You can set up the 100 square foot version’s swing wall as a wall or as an awning for an additional 60 square feet of shade.
  • Foldable Frame – The lightweight frame folds to snuggle into its 3ft long and 1ft wide carrier bag.

Additional Features:

  • Carrier bag included
  • Comfort grips on telescoping poles

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Livability:

As stated above, Coleman’s Instant Canopy Tent comes in three sizes, which range from 35 – 100 sq. ft of shade. Each topping 9 feet above ground. This is a decent height considering the number of 9 foot tall people has been a rarity since the dawn of time.

The tent also comes with slanted or angled poles which allow for increased stability. They are also adjustable to help with ease of set up, as you don’t have to reach over your head to set it up. You can also use the 100 square foot version’s swing wall as an awning for an extra 60 square feet of shade.

And finally, the polyguard 2x double-thick fabric is essential in providing up to 99% of protection from UV rays. No sunburns or sunblock needed when under this tent!

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Ease of Set Up:

The Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent sets up in under 3 minutes. This has actually been backed by customer reviews. All you need to get the tent ready is unfold it and stretch the poles to the desired height.

You can then extend the upper rib of the pole until it clicks in position. You’ll then switch the non-pinching fasteners to place. The same is repeated for the rest of the three poles, after which the lower rib part of the tent is adjusted to suit your particular needs.

There is no need for reaching above the head to set up the tent, as height adjustment is the last part of the setup.

After the tent has been fully set up, the welded poles provide sturdy support on either even and uneven ground, with stakes providing extra support if needed.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Wind Resistance:

This Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent has been tested at winds of roughly 40 mph speeds and passed with flying colors. That’s pretty stable! Plus, it comes with strings that can be attached to stakes for added support. The tent’s aerodynamics, however, cannot be compared to the more angular and curved models.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Durability:

Commercial models tend to be longer-lasting due to the materials used in their construction. The Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent is no different, with its steel frame, weighted support and thick fabric.

The steel frame and poles offer a longer lifespan compared to the aluminum versions which may warp over time. It is also resistant to rust and is quite sturdy, adding to its allure. The poles are angled, which adds to the support.

The fabric consists of a 2x thick polyguard that guarantees a longer lifespan. It is mold resistant and high in tear strength. It is also water and fade resistant.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Portability:

The Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent comes with a carrier bag, which should fit in most vehicle trunks comfortably. This will leave extra space for some other tailgating essentials.

Depending on which size you choose, the tents weigh 23.9 pounds, 28.9 pounds, and 28.6 pounds. But with the wheels on the carrier bag, we can safely say that this tent is built for the road.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Warranty:

Coleman’s Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent comes with a one-year limited warranty. We all know warranty issues can be daunting at times. So, we recommend shopping on Amazon for your own peace of mind as they’re known for great customer service and easy returns based on their reputation and customer satisfaction.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Replacement Parts:

The Swingwall Canopy Tent is quite durable. However, over time, wear and tear is inescapable. Replacement parts would come in handy for these instances rather than having to buy a new tent.

However, at the time of writing, Coleman doesn’t seem to have replacement parts for this tent.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Cost:

What I like the most about the Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent is the different size options that Coleman offers. However, with the different sizes come with different prices. The 7×5 tent comes in at under $100, the 9×7 tent is about $250 and the 10×10 tent goes for a little under $300.

Of course, it is always wise to compare prices in different stores for the best deals. But in our comparison, the buck stops at Amazon, where you are guaranteed to find the best sales and offers, such as the Free Guaranteed 1-3 Days Shipping for Prime members.

What Do We Like?

The following features of Coleman’s Swingwall Canopy Tent stand out the most for us:

Polyguard 2x Double-Thick Fabric – Allows for 99% UV ray protection, so kiss goodbye that greasy sunblock!

Ease of Setup – The well-designed foldable frame allows for a quick set up.

Stability – This tent can withstand up to 40 mph winds!

Varied Sizes – You have the option to buy a quality tent at the size that best suits your tailgating needs. No matter what size you pick, you are still guaranteed the same quality across the board.

Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent Complaints:

It wouldn’t be fair to give you only the sugary parts about the Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent without telling you about the sour side of it too. We wouldn’t want you to go spending your hard-earned money before knowing the flip side of the story:

Breaking Latches and Locking Mechanisms – There have been complaints as to the quality of the locking mechanisms, which could break after being used a couple of times. Latches may also snap and break off.

Pooling on the Roof – After a heavy downpour, there have been complaints that pools of water form on the roof.

Other Tailgating Tents To Consider:

If something you’ve just read about the Coleman Swingwall doesn’t sit well with you, here are some other tailgating tents you may like:

Should You Buy The Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent?

The Coleman Swingwall Instant Canopy Tent comes in three different sizes catering to different customer preferences. Again, in as far as tailgating tents go, it is quite portable, thanks to the wheels on the carrying bag. The packed size also allows the tent to fit in most car trunks.

The ease of set up coupled with the stability it offers also makes it an ideal tent. However, the major complaints about the tent are valid, and I would advise that you be careful with the locks and latches, as they are vulnerable to careless handling. And it’s a little disappointing that you could possibly expect pooling of water with the canopy style roofing that should direct water downwards.

Best Features

  • Polyguard fabric
  • Stability
  • Ease of setup
  • Swing wall
  • Varied surface area to suit different preferences

Worst Features

  • Breakable latches and locking mechanisms
  • Pooling of water on the roof

  1. We currently have our own canopy tent and have found it to be an excellent resource, especially with young kids at the beach. What’s nice about this one is that it comes in several sizes. That way you can get exactly the one you need! I really like that it is so stable as well! The last thing you want is for your canopy to be blown over and have to chase it down the beach! Thanks for the post!
