240 Square Inch Cooking Area – With that much space you can feed up to 15 tailgaters comfortably. You can cook 8 medium sized chicken breasts on one side and your veggies on the other side of the cooking surface.
Fast Electric Heating – Once you preheat the grill for about 10 minutes, you should have your burgers, hot dogs or ribs ready in just under 30 minutes. With 5 temperature levels to work with, you can choose how fast you want your meat to cook. Either way, you’ll still get those ever-attractive grill marks on your food.
Non-Stick Metallic Surface– The grill’s cooking surface is non-stick, meaning it shouldn’t be a bother cleaning it. It also has perforations at the center so the grease will drain down to a removable drip pan.
Light-On Temperature Control Probe- The light-on temperature control knob cycles on and off as the grill’s thermostat maintains the appropriate temperature.
Other Notable Features:
- Apartment approved
- Domed Lid with vent
- Indoor/Outdoor Removable Stand
George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill Cleaning & Maintenance:
As a rule of thumb, while cleaning electric grills, ensure the unit is unplugged from the outlet, and the cord placed far away from the water splash zone. Also, allow the grill to completely cool off first.
With the George Foreman GGR50B, warm, soapy water should be enough to clean the entire unit. Just give the non-stick cooking surface a tidy scouring and rinse, then let dry. You can also clean the cook box and lid in a similar fashion. The drip tray is dishwasher safe so feel free to throw it in there.
Once you’re done cleaning the grill you can reattach the cooking surface and insert the cover for storage. You can buy the grill’s cover on Amazon.com for around $20 if your grill didn’t come with one.
Remember, with non-stick cooking surfaces you want to use wooden or plastic utensils while preparing your meals to avoid scratching the surface.
George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill Portability:
Unlike most charcoal and gas grills of this design, the George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill is approved for both indoor and outdoor use. It measures just 20 inches in diameter so moving it around should be a one-man job. Electric grills are ideally light, and this one is no exception, weighing just 4 lbs when assembled. The stand also disassembles into two parts. So, you shouldn’t have much trouble finding space for this grill when tailgate season is on!
George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill Warranty:
The George Foreman GGR50B comes with a 3 year limited warranty. The warranty covers manufacturer and workmanship defects. So you may want to keep your warranty card and receipt nearby. For warranty issues, you can contact the support here.

George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill Replacement Parts:
So, what if one part of the grill craps out and requires replacement? Ideally, you would just go and buy the replacement part. But the question is, are they available? Well, with the George Foreman GGR50B, no part of it is sold separately. That means you may have to take extra care of this grill or run the risk of having to buy the entire grill again if one part becomes damaged or useless.
George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill Cost:

What Do We Like?
At Simply Tailgating, we’re huge on grills that are tailgate-friendly. If we can’t conveniently take the grill out for a spin then it doesn’t do us any good. So here’s what we like about the George Foreman GGR50B.
It’s Truly Portable – The unit measures 20 inches across and weighs only 4 pounds. With a long-enough extension cord you can set it up just about anywhere since it’s a stand up grill, and the stand is detachable, disassembling into three parts. That’s pretty tight as far as portability goes.
Easy to clean and operate – Anyone can assemble and operate this grill, you don’t need any medal in grilling to operate this rudimentary grill. Also, if you avoid using abrasive cleaning equipment, the non-stick cooking surface should retain its glory for a long time.
George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill Complaints:
What good would this review be without its shortfalls? So read the next section and decide for yourself whether the George Foreman GGR50B is worth your money or a hard pass.
The power plug fits loosely into the grill – Customers noticed after continued use that the power plug fits loosely into the grill. It’s common with most electric grills, and it’s sad that the George Foreman GGR50B got caught up in the same mess. My advice would be to try and ensure there’s minimum movement or shaking around the plug-in area during use. Remember, the grill doesn’t have replacement parts so you may want to go easy while plugging the cord in and out.
Not Hot Enough – This grill doesn’t measure up to the capabilities of gas and charcoal grills. It will easily cook your lamb chops, chicken breasts, bacon and fillet, but definitely not a mean juicy t-bone steak unless you like it rare. You also won’t smoke a brisket on this grill, as it’s designed for indoor use.
No replacement parts – If one part of this grill breaks down, you’ll find it hard getting a replacement. Some customers had to look for used parts on Craigslist to get the grill running again, which to me is somewhat confounding.
Other Tailgating Grills to Consider:
So, I trust you now have an idea of what this grill is capable of. If you’re still considering your options, here are a couple of George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill alternatives we’ve reviewed before that you can check out below:
- Cuisinart CEG-980T Electric Grill – Also electric, but smaller size
- Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 – Tabletop gas grill with more heating power
- Blackstone 36” Griddle – Bigger, can feed up to 20 tailgaters
Should You Buy the George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill?
For starters, we’ve come to expect quality and innovation from George Foreman over the years. So, you would expect their grills to be fan-favorites. They didn’t miss the mark here. The George Foreman GGR50B Electric Grill is a perfect touchdown on portability and handling. It’s also easy to clean and made of decently durable material, but there are no replacement parts which is a huge bummer. It’s also top-heavy, so you may want to set it up in a low-traffic area while out tailgating.
Overall, the George Foreman GGR50B is a functional, affordable and tailgate-friendly grill that will serve you diligently for years. If you’re sold, you can get it on Amazon.com where there are always tons of amazing deals and offers that help you save a bunch of cash. You can also get Free 1-3 Day Shipping if you’re a Prime member.
