You may think shopping for a tent is simple enough that there is no need to look at the fine print, but that may prove costly in the long run. That said, here’s what makes up the CROWN SHADES 10 x 10 Outdoor Tent:
150 Denier Oxford Fabric – The fabric offers UPF 50+ UV protection and is water repellent. A 150D Oxford fabric is as strong as 200D polyester but slightly more lightweight. Keep in mind it’s not fully waterproof but you shouldn’t expect to get wet during a mild downpour.
White Coated Steel Frame & Legs – Steel won’t bend easily and is also coated with white powder for rust resistance. The legs adjust to three heights topping a little over 9 ft high.
Easy Central Hub Set-Up – The tent offers a patented central hub system for easy lift. To set up the frame, open it, push the central hub system up and lift the top canopy until it clicks into the central pole.
Roller Bag Included – You get a bonus roller bag for easy transport and storage. Inside the bag you’ll also have 4 guy ropes and 8 stakes. The carrying bag measures 48″ x 6.69″ x 6.69″ and comes with wheels, a zipper and rubber handle.

- Two-person setup
CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent Livability:
This CROWN SHADES Pop-Up Canopy can sit up to 6 people and around 10 people standing. On one end you get an ample 100 sq. ft of living space but without sidewalls, things may get a little wet inside. UPF 50+ UV protection is pretty safe against scorching sun rays, and the canvas itself is water repellent, as it’s treated with an extra layer of protection against water.
Livability Rating: 3/5
CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent Ease of Set-Up:
Setting up the CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent is a 2-person, 5 minute job. One cool feature about the tent is the patented easy central-hub feature that enables you to set up the frame in position at the press of a button.
Ease of Set-Up Rating: 4.5/5
CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent Wind Resistance:
The CROWN SHADES 10 x 10 Tent can withstand winds of up to 15 mph. So it’s no match for the really strong winds. Some users say their tent collapsed during a heavy downpour and wasn’t able to stand up against blustery weather. Perhaps adding weight sandbags would help but that comes at an extra cost my friend!
Wind Resistance Rating: 3/5
CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent Durability:
Well, the CROWN SHADES 10 x 10 Pop-Up 150D Oxford fabric can last for about 3 years depending on how frequently you set it up. It doesn’t compare to the 500D Eurmax but if you store and dry it well you should get some good years out of it.
Durability Rating: 3/5
CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent Portability:
The CROWN SHADES Outdoor Pop-Up Tent weighs a little over 30 lbs. That’s pretty light for a 100 sq.ft tent, so you can mark this tent as “truly portable.” At the end of the day you need a canopy that can at least fit inside your trunk. While inside the bag it’s pretty compact measuring 48″ x 6.69″ x 6.69″, and the bag itself has wheels. Now combine the weight, compactness and wheeled bag and you have a tent grandpa can even use.
Portability Rating: 4.5/5

What Do We Like?
It’s Portable – At around 30 lbs you don’t really need to worry about breaking a sweat while taking this tent out for a spin. The wheeled carrying bag is also reassuring. At the end of the day this is one of the most portable tents we’ve reviewed so far.
Easy to set up – Some tents are tough to set up, while others require a couple of minutes. But they sweetened the deal with this one with a push-button design to make it stand. They went on to patent the same feature effectively earning leverage over its competition in terms of ease of setup.
CROWN SHADES Portable Pop-Up Tent Complaints:
Since there’s no such thing as a perfect product, you’re bound to run into problems while using this Outdoor 10 x 10 Tent. So, it’s up to you to decide whether the following downsides are deal breakers or not:
- Connectors break – Despite the manufacturer claiming that they built industry disruptive connectors, some customers say they can easily break as they are made of weak plastic.
- Won’t withstand strong winds – The tent is lightweight and you’ll also need to get weight bags as a secondary purchase if you want it to withstand strong winds. So if what a few customers are saying is true, this is not a tent to rely on if you are located in the Windy City!
- The Seams Rip – The seams that seal the stitched areas may rip under pressure, causing leakage.
- No Replacement Parts – This is perhaps the most frustrating bit about this tent. If something breaks, you’ll have to go back to the market for a brand new tent, if you’re already outside the warranty period when it happens.
Other Tailgating Tents To Consider:
