It’s almost impossible to talk about tailgating without mentioning a grill. It’s part and parcel of the whole experience. But things can go south pretty quickly if you don’t have the right one. This is probably why you are checking out Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill reviews to determine whether this grill will satisfy all of your tailgating needs and wants.
Well, we’ve laid everything bare in this Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill review. Some of it may shock you, so you may want to read along carefully. You’ve been warned!
About Solaire Grills:
Solaire Gas Grills, trading commercially as Rasmussen Ironworks and makers of the Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill, was founded in 1907 by Dutch blacksmith Rasmus Rasmussen. The company is run by current President Rett Rasmussen and they’re headquartered in Whittier, CA. They can be found online at solairegasgrills.com
Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill Features:
Solaire claims that the Anywhere Gas Grill is your ideal portable grill that provides a superior barbecuing experience when you are on-the-go. Do the features of this grill back up this claim? Let’s take a closer look:
Stainless Steel Construction – The whole unit is made of commercial-grade stainless steel, with a lid, latches and lid handle.
14,000 BTUs of Infrared Power – The grill runs on 14,000 BTUs of a propane powered infrared burner with a 61.1 Intensity Index.
V-grate Grilling Surface – You’ll have 14”x11” of cooking space, with V-shaped stainless steel grate bars apparently designed to reduce flare-ups.
Other Notable Features:
- Uses a 1 pound propane cylinder
- Push button electronic ignition
- Stainless steel color
- Made in the USA
- Carrying bag included
Cleaning & Maintenance:
The Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill is mostly stainless steel, so cleaning it shouldn’t be a drag. You should always allow any grill to cool off first before cleaning it. That’s standard practice, people! In this case, use warm, soapy water and stainless steel cleaner to clean the exterior and inside the firebox. To clean the cooking grate, unmount it and thoroughly scrub off food residue using a grill brush. You can then wash it with warm, soapy water and rinse. Allow it to dry off before reattaching it.
Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill Portability:
The grill’s name probably gives this away, but the Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill is made for the road. The unit weighs 28.6 pounds when packed. With lid down, it measures 21 inches wide by 13 inches deep by 12 inches high. A stand is not included, but Solaire does make stands for this grill. You can find one on Amazon.com for the best price.
Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill Warranty:
The Anywhere Gas grill and its replacement parts come with a 1 year limited warranty. The warranty only covers manufacturer and workmanship defects. You can read more on that here.
Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill Accessories:
Adding a few accessories to your grill will always revamp your barbecuing experience. With that in mind, here are a few Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill accessories you can buy:
- Spatulas and tongs
- Basting brushes
- Steamer/fryer
- Griddle/BBQ tray

- Infrared Burner Conversion Kit
- Hose adapter
- Push button igniter
- Knobs
These parts are available online or in walk-in stores, but they’re most affordable when you purchase them on Amazon.com.

What Do We Like?
There are a few features that make the Solaire Anywhere grill functional and ideal for tailgating, including:
Infrared Conversion Burner – The infrared burner heats up pretty quick, able to get to 500 degrees in under 3 minutes. With such superior heating capability, searing your steaks while locking in the juices shouldn’t be a problem!
Portability – It may not be as light as the Weber Go Anywhere, but it can definitely fit in tight spaces, measuring 21 inches wide by 13 inches deep by 12 inches high.
Stainless Steel Construction – Chromium + iron = no corrosion; no contest. The grill is mostly stainless steel so with the right care and storage, you shouldn’t expect rust problems.
Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill Complaints:
Perhaps you’re already swayed by what you’ve read so far, but this review wouldn’t be complete without us mentioning some drawbacks of the Solaire Anywhere grill. We break down the negatives below:
Regulating the temperature may be a problem – If you’re operating this grill for the first time, you may want to get handy with the heat regulator knob. It’s a fuel guzzler so you can expect to run through several 1-pound propane canisters if you don’t have the 20-pound tank.
Almost impossible to slow-cook – Some customers also say they found it hard to find the balance between searing and cooking as it can get very hot, and the lowest temperature is still too hot for slow-cooking. It heats up pretty quickly, so if your meat is fatty you may have to fight off stubborn flare-ups.
Small cooking area – With 155 square inches of cooking space, you can only expect to lay down four or five regular-sized steaks at a time. So you may want to consider your options first before getting this grill.
Other Grills to Consider:
If you feel this grill may not be the way to go, here are some tailgate-friendly Solaire Anywhere Gas grill alternatives that we have previously reviewed for you to check out:
Weber Go Anywhere – 10 pounds lighter for the same cooking area
Char-Broil Grill2Go – Charcoal alternative
Camco Olympian 5500– Has a temperature gauge for more efficiency
Should you buy the Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill?
The Solaire Anywhere Grill gets points for innovation, with serious grilling capabilities that is ready to cook only five minutes after turning it on. It can heat up to 700 degrees, so searing your food with attractive grill marks while sealing the juices inside shouldn’t be a problem. But with a burner that kicks out such an insane amount of heat, slow cooking may not be a viable option. But who wants to slow-roast a flank steak while tailgating anyway?
This Solaire is also designed for portability, but you may want to stack up with extra propane tanks if you opt out of the 20-pound tank. Lastly, this grill is ideal if you are looking to zip through foodstuffs that need hot, fast heat blasting before serving. So overall, the grill is pretty functional and more than makes up for the $400 price tag. Remember, you can get it on Amazon.com and get it fast with the Free 2-3 Day Shipping if you’re a Prime member. If you still have questions, you can visit the product’s Amazon page for answers.

Is this good timing or what? We live in KC, and this time of year is better known as “tailgate season”! So, we are in the market for a new grill.
This Solitaire Anywhere Gas Grill looks like a great alternative to the Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill – especially if you want to cook larger quantities of food. As you mentioned, a significant downside may be the amount of propane it uses. You would certainly want to plan ahead – especially if you are using it for camping out in the middle of nowhere where obtaining a propane refill may not be so convenient.
Hi Susan, glad you found this review helpful and thanks for the tip! You would definitely want to have some extra propane containers handy with this grill. Thanks for chiming in and good luck with your search for a new tailgating grill.
I have been using this grill a few times a week for the last 2 months and I love it! It sits next to my sad, built-in gas
powered grill I no longer need. What a pleasure to fire this thing up and it be hot as heck in just a minute. It doesn’t matter if its freezing outside, this unit is ready to go!
Thanks for your input, Jordan! It always helps to hear directly from customers about their personal experiences with these products.
I really like the look and features of the Solaire Anywhere Gas Grill. It looks like it would be the best portable grill for tailgating. My last grill I used was really slow to heat which made it less than ideal for game day. It looks like this grill can heat up quickly which saves me a great deal of time. I am looking forward to purchasing this before next season.
Hi Pamela: Glad we were able to assist in your decision to purchase the Solaire Anywhere grill. As you already know, you won’t be disappointed! Enjoy and happy tailgating!!!
