Well, don’t worry, we got you covered here at Simply Tailgating. We compiled all the information you need to know about this grill, which is set forth here in our comprehensive Weber Q2200 Grill review. So don’t dare buy this grill before you check out some shocking complaints about it towards the end of this review. So let’s get into ‘eat’, shall we?

About Weber Grills:

Weber-Stephen Products LLC, found online at www.weber.com, is an American manufacturer of charcoal, electric and gas grills, including the Weber Q 2200. The company was founded by George A. Stephen back in 1983, and they are currently headquartered in Palatine, Illinois.

Weber Q 2200 Features:

The Q 2200 Grill claims to be the heart of every meal. Do the features back this up? Let’s take a closer look:

Porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates – You probably already know cast-iron is a great heat retainer. They go on to add a porcelain enamel layer for added durability.

Cast aluminum domed lid and body – Cast aluminum keeps rust at bay. But what’s more striking is the dome-shaped lid that’s large enough to cover a large chicken or 15 pound turkey. They also attached a thermometer to the lid for better temperature control.

280 Square Inches of Cooking Space – A stainless steel burner powers up to 12,000 BTUs around the 280 square inches of cooking space.

Other Notable Features:

  • Removable catch pan
  • Electronic ignition
  • Infinite control burner valve
  • Foldable side-tables
  • Glass-reinforced nylon frame

Weber Q 2200 Cleaning & Maintenance:

Cleaning the Weber Q2200 shouldn’t be a problem. Consider wiping the lid, body and side tables with a paper microfiber towel and a cleaning agent. It could get messy if you wipe down the grease with a damp table cloth.

Then, use a grill brush to clean the cookbox. Once the grill cools down completely, remove the cooking grates and brush off excess grease and food residue from the inside of the cookbox. They should settle in nicely in to the bottom drain tray.

You can clean the cooking grates with normal dishwasher soap and scrub. Use the soft side of your grill brush to clean the porcelain enameled surface. You can then season the cast-iron cooking grates with vegetable oil before storing it away.

To store it away safely while guarding it against the elements, cover it with a grill cover. You can get one on Amazon.com if you don’t already have it.

Weber Q 2200 Portability:

What makes an outdoor grill great is how portable they make it. The Weber Q2200 will give you a bitter-sweet experience when it comes to portability. Here’s why.

When closed and side tables out, the grill measures 26″H X 51.4″W X 25.1″D. However, compared to most grills of the same size, this one is heavier than average, weighing 44 pounds. It’s designed to be a tabletop grill, but you can get a stand on Amazon.com if you prefer keeping your options open with cooking location.

Weber Q2200 Warranty:

You can tell how confident a manufacturer is about their product with how good their warranty is. With the Weber Q 2200, the cookbox, stainless steel burner tubes, porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates and lid assembly come with a 5 year, no rust through/burn through warranty, and so do all plastic components. All other parts including accessories have a 2 year warranty.

Weber Q2200 Accessories:

Whether you’re flipping burgers, roasting a full chicken or making bacon, it’s always good to know you have options with the Weber Q2200. Here are a few accessories you can buy:

If you want the best prices on these accessories, they’re available on Amazon.com with all sorts of discounts and offers to take advantage of, like the 2-3 Day Free Delivery if you’re a Prime member.

Weber Q2200 Cost:

The Weber Q2200 costs a little over $200 in most stores. But if you want to get the best prices, Amazon.com would take the day since they always have great offers and discounts. You can even get free 2-3 Day Shipping if you’re a Prime member.

What Do We Like?

Weber is impressive when it comes to rolling out portable grills. The Weber Q2200 is no exception. Here’s what we like about this grill:

Large Cooking Area – 280 Square inches of cooking space for a portable grill is quite large. You won’t have a problem serving 4-5 people whenever you fire this baby up.

Durable – The grill’s cast aluminum body and glass reinforced nylon frame is superior to most other grills made of flimsy stainless steel material. You should expect the grill to last a couple of years with proper handling and care.

Versatile – There are quite a number of accessories you can add to the grill which allows you to get the most out of it. You can add a griddle for your eggs, bacon and veggies or even add a stand and cook from anywhere. The glass-reinforced side tables are also great spots for your spices and sauces.

Weber Q 2200 Complaints:

When buying a grill, you must look beyond its cool features and specs. It’s always good to check out the drawbacks too, so you’ll know what issues you could face if you decide to go with the Weber Q2200.

It’s heavy – For a portable grill, 44 pounds is quite heavy. Plus, when you add the propane tank, your tools and food, your portability options look even slimmer. You wouldn’t want to take this grill very far unless you have no problem flexing some muscles along the way.

Burner problems – The unit comes with an infinite control valve, but some customers had trouble taking the heat level beyond 300 degrees. Again, the unit’s burner may be faulty with several cases of buyers having to replace the part after a couple of cooking rounds.

Temperature control issues – Some customers say the lowest heat level is still too high, and you may find it hard maintaining one temperature level for long. We all know how annoying that can be especially when trying to barbecue a mean piece of steak.

Other Tailgating Grills to Consider:

If the Weber Q 2200 simply doesn’t cut it for you, feel free to check out some Weber Q 2200 grill alternatives that we’ve previously reviewed:

Should you buy the Weber Q 2200 Grill?

This Weber Q 2200 grill can be a worthy buy if you don’t mind its weight. At 44 pounds, you would expect a larger cooking area than 280 square feet. You may also want to keep an eye on the burner if you’re having problems with controlling temperature.

Other than that, the Weber Q 2200 grill is a compact, easy to clean, well-built grill that you can throw in the trunk after tailgating or place it in the balcony area and let the neighbors get a nice smell of what you’re cooking. So, if it sounds like the Weber Q 2200 is the right grill for you, head on over to Amazon.com and get it even faster with the Free 2-3 Day Amazon Prime Delivery.

  1. Thanks for this review on the Weber Q 2200 grill. Been wanting to buy a new grill as my current one is getting old. Unfortunately, I’m looking for something a bit lighter than this one as I do not have much space, and I would have to transport it often. Any recommendation you would have for a light weight grill? Something not expensive as well. Thank you!

  2. Nice and informative review of the Weber Q2200 Grill. I have seen this same grill in my friend´s garage and in my opinion, it’s nothing special. That’s probably why my friend wasn’t using it anymore but regarding your article and discussion with him, the Weber Q2200 has a weak burner unit and wasn’t great to use for our grill parties! However, thanks for a good review, I will take a further look at your other grill articles.
